Though now destroyed, this work was a learning experience in many ways and even broke new personal ground in terms of techniques.
Midway into the work I was told that it was attracting interest from buyers and that I should send pictures and details to the gallery. As if right on cue, this proved enough of a distraction to throw me off my game, and suddenly short cuts and self-conscious add-ons began finding their way into the work. Despite all the work put in, the work felt diluted and reduced to something un-relatable.
After many frustrating days of trying to somehow justify it, I had no option left but to pour thinner all over the work to get it out of my system.
